The Stellar Community Fund is a pretty unique grants program: it gives the broader Stellar community the opportunity to vote on which projects deserve XLM rewards. After five rounds of experience and tons of feedback from participants and voters, we've decided to make some big changes to the SCF to make it more fun, more fair, and better suited to the needs of the community. By nature of open source, the Stellar ecosystem and community can collaborate to build a truly decentralized network, finding diverse solutions one can’t discover alone. To accomplish our vision of greater financial inclusion for all, we at SDF have thought a lot about how to best support our ecosystem and community in reaching this goal.

Stellar Community Fund Round 5 Finals Postmortem

Well, the final results for SCF #5 have been sorted out and let me begin with a big long YIKERS. Remember in the nomination round how we had a record turnout of 671 voters and had to remove all but 295 of them? Well in this final round we not only matched — but smashed — that record. 4,137 unique Keybase accounts showed up last week to vote in our final round. Unfortunately, we had to remove 4,058 of them.

Every three months, the broader Stellar community is given the opportunity to vote for their favorite project proposals. The winners split a pool of 3,000,000 lumens based on the percentage of the final vote they received.
