The Dogstar League: Follow the bone or take profit

The Dogstar platform is a gamified DeFi interface built on Stellar that aims to onboard the next waves of users into the ecosystem. Home of the Dogstar League, it is powered by Soroban applications and its own Proof of Profit technology.

How did you and your team get started?

The team is made up of a group of senior and specialist people. But most importantly, we’re a group of enthusiasts in different fields (development, design, marketing and growth, compliance, legal & Tax), with different backgrounds, connecting one to another through Dogstar.

The main pain points we’ve identified when a user faces DeFi are three: access, usability and trust. How to access the Stellar blockchain and interact with it brings the need of a didactic labor in order to be able to reach the majority. The use of DeFi is not easy nor intuitive. With Dogstar & The Dogstar League the pain points become fun points! We have earned trust with the work and passion that we dedicate to the project.

What did you build during the SCF Startup Camp on Stellar/Soroban?

Our main goal is to facilitate the use and access to DEFI through a gamified and free risk playground: The Dogstar League. The Dogstar League accompanies the user throughout the process of interacting with the Stellar DEX and AMM while having fun.

During the SCF Startup Camp, we have built our customer (sponsors) journey path for the Dogstar League so they can bid for advertising spaces during the round game, as well as the smart contract code for the auctions.

What was your experience like?

The SCF Startup Camp has been a great experience for the team! The methodology used by Stellar Foundation & DFS Lab to achieve a concrete output in just five days is one of the best takeaways as you can keep using it for future features of your platform! Having a mentor and a facilitator, as well as Stellar experts at your disposal to discuss and build the ideas is also something very cool. Not every week you can gather all this talent in just one place. Everybody was super accessible and willing to help.

And last but not least, working together with other Stellar projects has been super inspiring! Being able to see the progress and the ideas of all the teams is a nice way to inspire ourselves. Kudos to all the teams!

Memorable moments

  • Having survived as a large team, continuing to work on the project and continuing with more enthusiasm than the first day is the best achievement.
  • Being recognized as a legitimate project. We love you, Stellar community!
  • Every new feature we’ve been able to launch has been memorable for us: Swap, Trade & Liquidity Pools as DeFi; every Terry (our pet) design carefully curated by our master Dave.

Lessons learned

  • First shot. Then ask
  • Build, test, adjust and repeat!
  • When you move things happen
  • You are nobody without your team
  • There is always a way to move forward. Just keep pushing.
  • “Mica en mica s'omple la pica”, a catalan expression that translate as “every drop counts”

Words of wisdom for future teams

As the week is super intense, making sure the schedule is free is a smart way to go. Follow the methodology and try no stay up to date with the deliverables. It might seem that you’re not making progress… but step but step, you end up with a very concrete feature!
