Products & Services

Paychant is developing a standard fiat on-and-off ramp solution that supports all of Africa's traditional payment rails.

The Problem

As of today, It’s challenging for users in Africa to onramp and offramp directly on any self-custodial wallets or dApps using their local payment methods like (Mobile money wallet, USSD, or local bank transfer), because most of the global fiat on-ramping solutions mainly focus on ACH, SEPA, and credit card payments solution and none of them support the traditional payment rails in Africa.

Paychant solves this problem, by providing a simple and customizable fiat on-and-off-ramp SDK that supports a broad range of localized payment methods in Africa, which are (mobile money wallet, USSD, or local bank transfer,) allowing users in Africa to easily on-ramp and off-ramp right inside any self-custodial wallets, DEX, dApps, or NFT platforms.

What we want to build on Stellar

Through our ramp SDK, we want to connect XLM and USD Coin (Stellar) to all of Africa's traditional payment rails, allowing African users to seamlessly on-ramp and off-ramp directly on all self-custodial wallets, DEX, or dApps that are built on Stellar.

Additional information

Paychant is the bridge that connects digital assets and traditional payment rails in Africa.

Each region has its own traditional payment methods that are widely used among its people. Mobile wallets and USSD are the dominant methods of paying and receiving payment in Africa, due to the inefficiency of a proper banking infrastructure on the continent. Paychant creates a bridge between Africa's localized payment systems and digital assets, making it possible for users in Africa to onboard into any decentralized platform. Wallets and DApps will leverage the Paychant ramp widget to provide their African users with a variety of cost-effective local payment options, which enables them to seamlessly move between local fiat currency and digital assets.

The Opportunity

Crypto-enabled products such as wallets, dApps, and DeFi apps are looking for better ways to onboard the 1.2 billion users in Africa, and Paychant is positioned to become an integral part of this effort by creating a link between digital assets and Africa's traditional financial systems.

First Deliverable

Our first deliverable will be setting up the Stellar Horizon API/SDKs on our local development server to:

  1. Generate account.
  2. GET address balance.
  3. GET transaction hash.
  4. Send funds from one address to the other.

In other to complete this step, we will need to familiarize ourselves with the Stellar technical documentation.

Reviewer instructions

We will make an in-depth technical video that demonstrates how the Stellar Horizon API/SDKs work on our local development servers via Postman.

Paychant Ltd

Paychant is a payment gateway that helps Africans on-ramp and off-ramp right inside any self-custodial wallets, DEX, or dApps using Africa's localized payment methods.
