Forestio
Description
Forest.io is a mission-driven clean-tech project with a singular yet crucial goal: to combat climate change by reforestation. Through the proceeds of NFT sales representing a physical piece of a forest, we plan to plant trees in the designated locations, continuously take a satellite image representing that location and store that publicly and verifiably on the blockchain. The NFTs will be mintable for the price of reforesting the designated area and the carbon offsets will be represented by a fungible token (linked to 1 gram of carbon taken out of the atmosphere) with its price set by the demand for offsets. This balanced ecosystem will provide economic incentives (yield) for holding forest areas and create an economic dynamic where rising demand for offsets directly increases reforestation, support for struggling local communities as well as economic returns for the holders of the assets. Forestio’s vision of true sustainability combines three elements: environmental, social and economic and we want to deliver an ecosystem where one supports the other and where different stakeholders can harmoniously interact.
