We're going to create an incentive for people to plant more trees by creating tradable NFTs that are tied to the newly planted trees. As trees grow and planters add more data about the trees into the system these digital tokens will increase in value, with token creators taking a fee for the creation of the initial token when the tree was planted as well as each time it is resold, with the ability to "collect" on the hard asset backing the token, a tree, as well.

We will create a system to track NFTs of trees, a wallet to hold those NFTs, and a system in which to exchange those NFTs.

Goal & Budget

In six months we plan to have an operating marketplace with an initial 10,000 newly planted trees listed as NFTs.  Each time a tree is planted, an NFT will be created to represent that tree.  These "asset-backed NFTs," backed by trees, will be fully tradeable, with the values of each NFT increasing as additional records of the tree´s continued existence are updated over time, showing that the tree not only wasn´t cut down, but adding data on the trees growth, as well as information about the temperature and rainfall around the tree.

The original intent coming out of COP26 is to create a tool that can track reforestation, becoming a global tool to track companies´and countries´ promises to increase forest coverage.  However, investors will also have the option to buy these trees through our marketplace, and if the trees are verified as being planted in a legal location where logging is allowed, they can be cut down at a later stage as a means for investors to collect on the value of their token, but even then the digital mapping of forests, initially in El Salvador, Tunisia and Madagascar, and later globally, will allow greater transparency of what is happening in global forest preservation.

When an NFT token is minted, we will collected a 3% fee on the minting of the NFT and all onward trades of said token.

Milestone #1 - Recruiting of Additional Team Members and Experts

Post jobs for head of technical team, head of quality and specification. Hire professor of forestry, as well as recruit a software development team.

Acceptance criteria: Contracts will be signed with key team members and salaries will begin to be paid.

Milestone #2 - Prototype Creation

Creating a prototype that has an interface for the system that records information on trees, checks its authenticity, and includes designing and exploring places to create a wallet.

Acceptance criteria: Generate data on the prototype and its function, and evaluate/enhance the interface and its performance. Authenticity data is to be gathered from the running of the prototype. Wallet is created and tested.

Milestone #3 - Prototype Creation of App for Consumer Use

Creating a prototype of a web-based marketplace for consumers, investors and reforestation supporters to trade “trees” (or their digital representations).  Includes designing and exploring places to create a wallet.

Acceptance criteria: Generate data on the prototype and its function, and evaluate/enhance the interface and its performance. Authenticity data is to be gathered from the running of the prototype. Wallet is created and tested.

Milestone #4 - Smart Contracts Creation

Create smart contracts on the blockchain that will do the processing on the testnet.

Acceptance criteria: Deployment of smart contract on the test network.

Milestone #5 - Testing of Smart Contracts with Consumer-facing Web App

Test use of app with smart contracts on the blockchain that will do the processing on the testnet.

Acceptance criteria: Consumers, investors and reforestation supporters can see an NFT representing their tree in their wallet, including updated data as new information is added regarding a specific tree.

Milestone #6 - Final Prototype Introduction

All the data, information and experience gathered in the previous milestones will be tied together for the final prototype.

Acceptance criteria: The prototype must be faultless and tested in numerous and various conditions. High-function of the final product must be ensured.

Milestone #7 - Final Prototype of WebApp Introduction

All the data, information and experience gathered in the previous milestones will be tied together for the final prototype to allow WebApp to accurately verify if it is possible to view all data of NFT of a specific tree and to trade these trees from one wallet to another.

Acceptance criteria: The prototype must be faultless and tested in numerous and various conditions. High-function of the final product must be ensured.

Milestone #8 - Launch of NFT Marketplace for Trees and of App for Public Use

Our systems will be released for public use, with a target of initial trees to be tracked by partner organizations in El Salvador, Tunisia, Madagascar and possibly Germany or Sweden.  Through testing in a variety of markets, we will have different types of "assets" added into our marketplace to better test and scale its viability as a means to transparently track the creation of digital tokens representing trees, to which we plan to add additional data over time.

Acceptance criteria: The marketplace will launch, reaching the goal of 10,000 trees recorded in this pilot phase, and over the next 2-3 years reaching millions of trees and seeking partnership with global reforestation efforts at the level of both governments and international organizations to efforts to require digital records of trees to be kept so that the government, private citizens and investors can all be aware of the total "tree" product of a country, given the trees´value both as an asset not only for timber but also for carbon offsets.

Our Request

We anticipatine USD 45,000 budget, with USD 30,000 going towards software development costs, primarily salary and USD 15,000 towards salaries of our operations team as they do the work of building relationships with government officials in whose countries this could be deployed, presenting the tool at conferences, as well as civil society organizations with whom we could partner.

Through our partner organizations, the Ayadee Foundation and the Seneca Park Zoo Society, we have a significant network of activists passionate about the work we do who are on-site and have participated in our social impact projects on a voluntary basis in the past, so for our pilots we can leverage these partnerships avoiding travel costs and making it more reasonable to launch this project in multiple countries for a relatively low cost.

Progress so far

We are at the prototyping stage.  However, based on past work in creating Ayadee TRAK, we have a signed letter of intent from a US-based organization that has funded and developed past rainforest reforestation projects, including one in Madagascar where they placed raspberry pi computers on individual trees and were able to track data about the humidity, temperature and size of the tree and record it.  We plan to collaborate on applying this tool to Madagascar´s forests, as well as additional pilots in El Salvador.

Ayadee Holding Corp. has team members in El Salvador, the USA, Tunisia and Sweden.   The most recent pilots of our supply chain tracking tool have taken place or are being launched in Egypt, Tunisia and Burundi

We'll create incentives for people to plant more trees, with the ability to record and prove they've planted a tree, and sell that on an international marketplace through an NFT for each tree.  Similarly, existing forests can be mapped with trees that already are fully or partially grown also added with NFT representations of them, allowing landowners to gain capital for the value of their trees without having to cut down those same trees.
